Who we are and what we believe.
Mission Statement
The Canvas is a creative, Christ-centered community committed to spiritual renewal, artistic expression, and holistic healing. We welcome people from every background and walk of life—believers and seekers, artists and families, dreamers and the broken—to experience God through worship, community, and collaborative art. Our mission is to embody the Gospel by restoring identity, inspiring imagination, and equipping people to live creatively and compassionately in the world.
Our Core Values
God is Creator and created us to create: We reflect the image of God when we create.
Art is worship: Music, painting, poetry, film, movement & dance are all sacred expressions.
Healing through art: Creative work opens space for God to restore the broken.
Doubt and alternatives belong: Questions, flaws and imperfections are welcome. No one is perfect except Jesus; however, we do not edit our faith or filter the word of God.
Everyone has a medium: Whether you paint, raise kids, design systems, or organize, you’re creative and therefore produce worship unto God.
There is never pressure to engage artistically, worship and God’s word is open to all.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
Core Beliefs
We believe in one God (Blessed Trinity) -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived, died, and rose again for our redemption.
We believe in water baptism.
We believe that the sacraments of communion should be practiced.
We believe all people are made in God’s image and called to participate in the creative work of the Kingdom.
We affirm that creativity is a sacred expression of faith and healing.
We believe the Church is a spiritual family, not a building, open to all who seek Christ.
Note: The Canvas affirms the dignity and value of all people and welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and journeys into the life of the community.
